unidentified water plants. Classic scroll border at the

The exterior shows two pair of ducks divided
by two large lotus plants, surrounded with the same water plants as the interior,
but now including water-chestnut and duckweed. Early Ming, possibly

| Note:
|
The style of the classic scroll
border of early Ming and the earlier Yuan dynasty is
of a simpler form. Later reigns seemed to crowd the design with a more
compact version versus the delicate, open, almost calligraphic style seen
here. |
